Movement of Smoke

I decided to burn some incense sticks and held them up against a black background to see the patterns that the smoke created. I love how this looks as the smoke is very subtle but looks really effective. I love the randomness of it, and the shapes created remind me of fabric underwater or jellyfish tentacles (which I have also researched).

Movement of the Body Through Dance

I decided to take pictures and record my friend Ben to help me with my movement theme, as he is an amazing dancer. Here are some pictures and videos I gathered of him.























 

 

 



Sequence - Movement

For my A2 Unit 3 textiles, I have decided to base my ideas around the theme of the sequence of movement. To spark some inspiration, I looked at the movement of the body through dance and sport, and the movement of water and ink passing through it. These were the things that appealed most to me to do with movement.
I looked at the work of many artists such as Shini Chi Maruyana, Howard Schatz and Eadweard Muybridge, as they all experiment differently with movement (I have gone into the work of these artists in more detail in my written portfolio). I am not sure what I will base my work around just yet, but I have started to experiment with some ideas to start off.
